Musing on Movies

Setting: New York.
Cast: More than eight million characters -- not including animals and inanimate objects.
Storylines: Infinite.

Movies are a tool for documenting reality as well as escaping it. From April 22 to May 3, the Tribeca Film Festival will offer cinephiles the opportunity to indulge their love of movies and learn more about the filmmaking process. (I'll be attending matinee screenings of Don McKay and American Casino; tickets cost $8 per film.)

As a writer, the Tribeca Talks: Pen to Paper series is up my alley -- even though I have no interest in going to Hollywood. As for the Tribeca/ESPN Sports Day, it allows children to explore their inner athlete and encourages adults to embrace their inner child. The best part: these activities are free!
